Participants in Natalie’s dance class will explore the vocabularies of sacred traditional and contemporary dances of the African Diaspora. Honoring the collective soul and the body’s intelligence, we will dialogue through freestyle movement with sensual and sizzling rhythms from Brazil, Haiti, Cuba and Africa. In tune with natural elements and where they reside in the body, we will celebrate cultural expression with fresh and exciting movement and choreography that will guarantee to uplift, inform and inspire.
Natalie Gelman
With versatility, charisma and passion, Natalie has inspired and captivated many on dance floors and stages around the globe. She has cultivated a unique style that includes Afro Brazilian, Cuban, Haitian, Belly dance, Break dance, Salsa, Silvestre Technique and Contemporary dance. For the past 15 years, Natalie has immersed herself in thriving dance communities in Canada, United States, Cuba, Mexico, Central America, Egypt and Brazil. In these environments, she studied with master teachers and celebrated folkloric, urban and classical dance through dynamic group and solo performances with live music. As an enthusiastic dance teacher and choreographer, she has empowered students of all ages to express their creative movement as they learn the art of freestyle, technique and dances of the African Diaspora. Natalie has brought her dynamic energy to students of all ages at retreat centres and schools in western and central United States, Canada and Central America. Currently residing in San Francisco, she collaborates with musicians and dancers and performs at theatres, festivals, and community celebrations.
